The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 16-bed Medical/Surgical unit where approximately 750 critically ill children per year receive care and treatment. The staff consists of 4 PICU physicians, a unit manager, a unit nursing director, 50 staff nurses, 3 unit secretaries and 4 unit aides. Patients in the PICU are managed by a multidisciplinary group including: PICU staff physicians and pediatric subspecialists, specifically certified nurses, pediatric respiratory therapists, child life and rehabilitation specialists, nutritionists, pharmacists, and social workers. Our goal is to provide comprehensive family-centered care in an acute care setting.

A PICU staff physician is always on call and available to answer questions and to facilitate the transfer and admission of patients requiring critical care and intensive monitoring.
