Overview | Staff
The Pediatric Transport Program is a collaborative effort of the division of critical care and the department of emergency medicine at CCMC. This institutional program utilizes the resources of the PICU, the Emergency Department and the Respiratory Therapy department to provide a triage mechanism and, if necessary, an advanced practice transport of any infant or child to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center for further medical/surgical attention. The access to this program is via a dedicated Triage telephone line which is answered by a Pediatric Emergency Medicine attending who, with the referring physician, will determine the need for transfer and the mode of transfer. The Pediatric Emergency Medicine attending will also assist in the care of the patient with immediate medical recommendations.
Transport team members are available to provide
educational programs, regarding the transport of the
critically ill/injured child and other related topics by
calling the Transport Coordinator.
