Child Protection Team

Overview | Staff | Links

  • The Connecticut Children's Medical Center Child Protection Team serves to protect the needs of children, to promote their well being and prevent child maltreatment.
  • The Team is able to assist and support hospital personnel in the identification, intervention and treatment of suspected child abuse and neglect cases.
  • The purpose of The Child Protection Team is to help staff fulfill their responsibility as mandated reporters of cases where child abuse or neglect is suspected.
  • As a consultative body the Team acts as both an educational and informational resource readily available to all Connecticut Children's Medical Center Staff. We meet Thursdays at 8:00 a.m. Call 545.9700 to get on the agenda.
  • This multidisciplinary team whose membership consists of Connecticut Children's Medical Center social workers, psychologists, nurses, physicians, rehab specialists, administrators and SCAN Program staff as well as DCF staff and an attorney (from the Center for Children's Advocacy at the University of Connecticut School of Law) offers expertise to hospital staff. It is through this collaborative process with DCF that the team best achieves its mission as an institutional mechanism to facilitate communication and increase coordination both internally and with the community child protection systems. In this way we assure the excellent quality of care that we are committed to providing to our children at CCMC.
