The Endowed Named Fund Program A gift to the endowment is a gift that keeps on giving. Endowment monies are never spent. It is the interest generated from the endowment that is spent for the support of a program or specific clinical area. When establishing an Endowed Named Fund, each donor may specify how he or she wishes those funds to be used by defining the fund's purpose, such as medical research, education, patient care, or specific hospital programs. If the area or program to benefit grows obsolete or ceases to exist, Connecticut Children's will see to it that the fund goes on to benefit other areas or programs related to its original intent. An Endowed Named Fund can be established with a minimum gift of $25,000, which may be made as an individual or family donation, by the assignment of appreciated assets, or through an outright cash contribution. Endowed Named Funds may be established in memory or honor of someone special and named for a specific department or program.
